King pleased with economic performance

HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, said he is pleased with improvements to the country economy and trade performance.
 
His Majesty hoped the government would continue to work to boost the economy to create more jobs and increase the income and living standards of the people.
 
“All leaders and members of the government administration must shoulder the trust given to them with full responsibility for the benefit of the people and the country. Avoid corruption and abuse of power.
 
“I also hope that all Malaysians will continue to preserve unity, live in harmony and unite, and hold firmly to the principles of the Rukun Negara,” said the king at an investiture held in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday at the Balairung Seri of Istana Negara yesterday.
 
Present was Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.
 
On behalf of himself and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the king thanked the people for their prayers and congratulatory messages.
 
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi were also in attendance.
 
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar leads the list of 16 recipients of federal awards and honours this year.
 
Shamsul Azri was conferred the Darjah Panglima Mangku Negara, which carries the title “Tan Sri”. Armed forces chief General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain were also recipients of the Darjah Panglima Mangku Negara.
 
Six individuals were awarded the Darjah Panglima Setia Mahkota, which carries the title “Tan Sri”. They included Attorney-General Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh, Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abul Aziz and Federal Court judge Tan Sri Haridner Singh Dhaliwal.
 
The other recipients were CIMB Group Holdings Bhd chairman Tan Sri Mohd Nasir Ahmad, Tenaga Nasional Bhd chairman Tan Sri Abdul Razak Abdul Majid and Football Association of Malaysia president Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin.
 
Meanwhile, Court of Appeal judge Datuk Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Awang Kok Jieman and Higher Education Department director-general Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda Azman were among the recipients of the Darjah Panglima Jasa Negara, which carries the title “Datuk”.
 
Royal Malaysian Navy acting chief Vice-Admiral Datuk Zulhelmy Ithnain and Johor police chief Datuk K. Kumar also received the award.
 
An aide-de-camp to the King, Brigadier-General Datuk Mohd Shahrul Arbyanny was conferred the Darjah Panglima Setia Diraja award, while the Darjah Johan Mangku Negara was awarded to three people, including Malaysia Productivity Corp director-general Zahid Ismail.
 
Home Ministry deputy secretary-general (Bilateral Relations) Datuk Ahmad Rozian Abd Ghani was among the four recipients of the Darjah Johan Setia Diraja.
 
Twelve people received the Bintang Kesatria Mangku Negara, including Malaysian National News Agency strategic planning head Nazasuki Nasir and two individuals were awarded the Bintang Kesatria Setia Diraja.
 
National lawn bowl athletes Nur Ain Nabilah Tarmizi and Aleena Ahmad Nawawi were among the 24 recipients of the Bintang Ahli Mangku Negara, while 98 people received the Pingat Pangkuan Negara and nine others, the Pingat Bentara Setia Diraja.
